Rutgers Recreation Memberships
Rutgers Recreation memberships provide you with access to our wide range of programs, services, and facilities designed to foster self-discovery, belonging and wellness for the Scarlet Knights community.
Alumni and Sponsored Member Membership sales are available at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center.
Complimentary Memberships
- Rutgers Students (who are enrolled in the current semester and have a paid Campus Fee)
- Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) students based in New Brunswick/Piscataway, including students matriculated at the RBHS School of Graduate Studies, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the School of Public Health, and the School of Health Professions.

If your status at the university is listed above, you already have a paid membership through your Rutgers Campus Fee on your term bill or your collective bargaining unit's contract and are able to use our recreation centers throughout Rutgers New Brunswick as well as our Fitness & Wellness Classes! You can confirm your membership status by logging into the Recreation Portal and accessing your profile. Access instructions on using the portal (PDF).
You can access our facilities by swiping your Rutgers ID card at any of our front desks, or by downloading the RURec2Go Mobile App and scanning in using your Member ID barcode (first icon).

We offer Alumni memberships to provide you with access to our facilities and services. Membership fees provide alumni with access to all five of our recreation/fitness centers in New Brunswick, use of open recreation space (fitness centers, multi-sports courts, multi-purpose rooms, pools, racquet sports, locker rooms), and Fitness & Wellness classes.
Your membership purchase will also provide you with student pricing for our fee-based services and programs such as certification classes, swim lessons, massage therapy and wellness services, personal training, etc.
If you are a first-time member, please stop in at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center to purchase your membership. Renewals can be completed via self-service online using the Recreation Portal.

Any current student, faculty, staff or alumni with an active Recreation membership can purchase Affiliate – Sponsored Member memberships for non-affiliates over the age of 18. Membership fees provide the non-affiliate with access to all five of our recreation/fitness centers in New Brunswick, use of open recreation space (fitness centers, multi-sports courts, multi-purpose rooms, pools, racquet sports, locker rooms) and Fitness & Wellness classes.
Sponsored Member memberships also include access to student pricing for our fee-based services and programs such as certification classes, swim lessons, massage therapy and wellness services, personal training, etc.
Sponsored Member membership purchases require the sponsoring student/faculty/staff/alumni member and the non-affiliate to both be present and can be purchased at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center.

Depending on the classification of your current or previous role, you may be required to purchase a membership to access the Recreation centers.

If you have an active membership listed under My Memberships, you have access to our centers and Fitness & Wellness classes.
If you do not have an active membership listed under My Memberships, you are required to purchase an RU Employee membership through the Recreation Portal in order to gain access to recreation centers. The RU Employee membership also includes access to all of our Fitness & Wellness classes. The RU Employee membership provides access to student pricing for our fee-based services and programs such as certification classes, swim lessons, massage therapy and wellness services, personal training, etc.
Parking passes are not available for RU Employee memberships. Please contact Rutgers Parking and Transportation for rules and regulations related to your university parking permit.

**CAN PURCHASE / RENEW ONLINE THROUGH THE MEMBER SELF-SERVICE PORTAL**
Students enrolled in programs that do not pay for recreation access through their term bill campus fees must purchase a membership. Membership fees provide students in those programs with access to our recreation/fitness centers in New Brunswick as well as Fitness & Wellness classes.
By purchasing a membership, you would also have access to student pricing for our fee-based services and programs such as certification classes, swim lessons, massage therapy and wellness services, personal training, etc.
