• Recreation is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment that fosters the wellness of the Rutgers University community.  All members and guests of our facilities are expected to follow all Rutgers University policies, rules and regulations stated in the Code of Student Conduct Section VII as well as Recreation rules and procedures.
  • Regardless of the activity, all participants must acknowledge that they are assuming risks when they voluntarily take part in informal or programmed recreational activities. Each participant also has a responsibility to use prudent and ordinary care in his/her actions. Patrons should consult with their physician before starting an exercise program.
  • A University ID or Recreation issued membership card is required to enter.
  • Guest must be 18 years of age or older and remain with member at all times.  A photo ID with date of birth must be presented and all guest policies must be followed.  Click here for the Recreation Guest Policy.
  • Recreation is not responsible for any damaged, lost or stolen personal items.  Personal items may be placed in daily lockers which are available in the locker rooms in every facility.  Locks are available for loan at each front desk.
  • Organized/group activities must be approved in advance. Click here for information on Facility Rentals/Reservations.
  • Food is not allowed in any activity space without prior approval.
  • Drinks must be kept in a sealed, non-glass container. Glass containers are prohibited.
  • Tops, bottoms, and footwear are required in public areas of all indoor facilities except locker rooms and aquatic areas (see Pool and Aquatic Program Policy).  Refer to activity/program areas for specific attire requirements.
  • Abuse and/or misuse of equipment is prohibited.  Equipment must be used in the proper manner. Equipment is not to be removed from designated area without approval .
  • The possession, use and/or distribution of alcoholic beverages, or illegal drugs, or/and dangerous weapons are prohibited.
  • Animals are not permitted in facility, except trained service animals.
  • Roller blades/skates, skateboards and shoes with built-in wheels are prohibited from use.
  • Headphones must be used while listening to personal music.
  • Bicycles and mopeds are prohibited from being brought into/used in recreation centers.
  • Use of facilities for paid instructional or coaching purposes must be approved by Rutgers Recreation.
  • Cameras and video equipment are not allowed in the facilities without prior approval.
