Recreation Work Study Job Descriptions

Job Descriptions

Provides competent, safe instruction as established by the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program. Plans and effectively organizes class time for maximum practice. Prepares weekly lesson plans and teaches with encouragement and positive reinforcement.

Develops, creates, produces, and evaluates web applications for the Recreation Department. PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, MAC experience preferred.

Responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining software and hardware problems and providing training to staff members on use of software. Advanced knowledge and skill with MAC preferred.

Responsible for the daily inspection, maintenance, cleaning, and repair of all equipment administered by Recreational Services. Assists with general assembly of equipment and large event set up and break down.

Provides supervision of the fitness centers, including policy enforcement, cleaning, and patron assistance. Requires CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (included in training).

Provides administrative support for the Intramural program. Prepares uniforms and equipment for nightly games. Provides additional assistance as needed.

Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification required.

Assists with event advertisement, general promotion, brand awareness and web development. Supports sponsorship lead generation and execution.

Provides customer service including greeting and assisting patrons, providing information regarding recreation programs, facility events, and hours of operation, answering phones, inputting data, and assisting in emergency situations.

Assists with all aspects of office operations including answering phone, email, and in person inquiries, registrations, sales, cash handling, and providing clerical and administrative support. Experience with standard office software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel required.

Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Rock wall in addition to ensuring a safe and comfortable climbing environment for our patrons.
