Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy blends together many health and wellness benefits. Restore and renew energy while relaxing tense muscles. Massage can help aid with reducing stress and anxiety while improving immune system function and circulation. You will feel a sense of both calmness and well being during and after your therapeutic massage from one of our professional massage therapists. Our wellness rooms are peacefully designed and include air infused aromatherapy to enhance the session.

Massage is available at the Livingston Rec Center and the Cook Douglass Rec Center.  Appointments must be scheduled ahead of time and are available in 30 and 60 minute time frames.

Threading is an ancient method of hair removal originating in Central Asia and India.  It has gained much popularity especially with a cosmetic application for removal and shaping of eyebrows.

In threading, a thin thread is doubled and then twisted. It is then rolled over areas of unwanted hair, plucking the hair at the follicle level. Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove short lines of hair.

Advantages often cited for eyebrow threading are that it provides more precise control in shaping eyebrows and is gentler on the skin.

Threading is available at the Livingston Rec Center and the Cook/Douglas Rec Center. No appointment is necessary. Services are provided on a first come first serve basis.

Our mobile chair massage program is designed to bring wellness to your campus event. Our professionally licensed therapists bring positive energy in an effective way to help reduce stress induced tension. Clients are fully clothed and sit on specially designed massage chairs while therapists skillfully massage the shoulders, back, arms and hands for tension relief. Clients leave with a sense of well-being and relaxation.
This is a popular program for either small gatherings or large group events.
Event rates begin at $60 per hour per therapist/henna artist and prices are reduced for additional therapists/henna artist  -or- hours. For further information contact Teri Meade via email at  or phone 848-445-2398 or. You may also Click here to fill out request form.

Henna Tattoos are a form of body art in which the skin is painted using a paste made from leaves of Lawsonia inermis, a shrub that grows in Egypt, Tunisia, Iran, India, the Arabian peninsula and tropical Africa, popularly known as henna. The henna plant contains a natural red dye that stains the skin. No additional chemicals or dyes are added to henna so it is safe for use by all. Our henna stain will lasts 2-3 weeks.

Henna is applied to the skin as a temporary skin decoration by the henna artist. Modern and traditional patterns are available but clients are welcome to bring their own designs or pictures of the design they would like and the henna artists will try to replicate the design.

Henna Artists will be at special events hosted by Rutgers Recreation throughout the semester. Please check the website for current events and locations. Henna Artists can also be booked for your event under the Wellness On The Go Program.
