  • Rutgers Recreation Fitness Class Program offers premier classes with highly-trained instructors in the newest formats. Come experience workouts that are fun, challenging and full of positive motivation.
  • We offer two ways to take classes: Fitness Flex Pass and Specialty Classes
  • The Fitness Flex Pass includes over 100 weekly classes on all 4 campuses in formats ranging from cardio, strength, cycling, Barre/Pilates/Fusion, and Yoga/Meditation. Drop in and find a class you’re passionate about!
  • The Fitness Flex Pass is FREE for students and $45 for Faculty and Staff. Please show your ID before entering class.

How to Purchase Flex Pass Membership

Flex Pass Membership can be purchased:

Your Flex Pass Membership will be linked to your RU ID card so you will not need a Flex Pass Membership card.

Please bring your RU ID to class for the staff to swipe as you enter class.

We will no longer be selling the One Class Passes.  F/S may purchase a 1-day Flex Pass Membership for $10 that will give you access to all classes offered that day. This membership may be purchased in the same manner as listed above and will be automatically added to your Rutgers ID.

BODYATTACK®

BODYATTACK™ is a high-energy fitness class that combines athletic movements like running, lunging and jumping with strength exercises such as push-ups and squats. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or total addict, BODYATTACK™ will challenge your limits (in a good way!) and leave you with a sense of achievement.

CIZE™

HIP CHOREOGRAPHY + HOT MUSIC + NONSTOP MOVEMENT! A revolutionary new dance workout from Shaun T will have you bustin’ out full dance routines to the hottest music tracks. Get sweaty, gain confidence, and get an amazing workout! Leave your worries behind – class is designed for everyone!

GRIT® CARDIO

LES MILLS GRIT™ Cardio is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that improves cardiovascular fitness, increase speed and maximize calorie burn. This workout uses a variety of body weight exercises and provides the challenge and intensity you need to get results fast.

GRIT® PLYO

LES MILLS GRIT™ Plyo is a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) plyometric-based workout, designed to make you perform like an athlete. This workout uses a bench and combines explosive jumping exercises with agility training to increase explosiveness and to build a lean and athletic body.

INTENSATI®

Train your body, mind and spirit with this powerfully invigorating practice. intenSati combines empowering affirmations with interval training, martial arts, dance and yoga. You will leave class feeling stronger, uplifted and inspired to live a life you love in a body you love NOW.

RU FIT UNLEASHED

Rutgers Fast Intense Training is the challenging workout you have been looking for. Workouts vary weekly and modifications will be provided. The workouts are designed by Rutgers Fitness professional staff. RU FIT UNLEASHED is an extreme equipment-free class. Push yourself to the limit using your body weight with intervals of cardio, plyometrics, strength and core exercises.

RU RUNNING

A class designed for both beginners looking for a fun way to start running and make friends as well as serious runners interested in creating a plan to suit their goals. Workouts will vary from week to week and will include: hills, speed, intervals, and distance. Runs will be led by a certified running coach. All levels welcome!

ZUMBA®

An interval-style calorie-burning dance fitness party combining all elements of fitness – cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class. BODYPUMP®/BODYATTACK®

30 minutes of BODYPUMP® for strength and endurance followed by 30 minutes of sports-inspired BODYATTACK® to increase stamina.

30 minutes of BODYPUMP® for strength and endurance followed by 30 minutes of CXWORX® to shred the core.

BODYPUMP®/GRIT®

30 minutes of BODYPUMP® for strength and endurance followed by 30 minutes of GRIT™ Cardio and Plyo to challenge your fitness and explosiveness.

SPINNING®

The original indoor cycling experience where riders on a stationary bike experience a challenging, exhilarating and fun workout. Whether you are riding for fun, tuning in or zoning out, losing weight and improving health, getting ready to race or just enjoying the camaraderie of a group ride, our knowledgeable and inspiring instructors ensure riders enjoy the journey.

SPINNING® HIT

A 35-minute answer if you’re short on time. This high, intense class is a great option to get your cardiovascular training in an efficient way.

BODYPUMP®

Get lifting with BODYPUMP and you’ll tone and shape your entire body, without adding bulky muscles. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, BODYPUMP gives you a total body workout. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically proven moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music. You’ll leave class ready to come back for more!

CXWORX®

CXWORX is a 30-minute core training program that hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body. It’s ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, as well as improving functional strength in the hips and assisting in injury prevention in the lower back. You can continually challenge yourself, regardless of your own fitness level using resistance tubes and weight plates, as well as body weight exercises like crunches, and hovers.

GRIT® STRENGTH

LES MILLS GRIT™ Strength is a cutting edge 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout, designed to improve strength and build lean muscle. This workout uses barbell, weight plate and body weight exercises to blast all major muscle groups.

RU FIT STRENGTH

Rutgers Fast Intense Training is the challenging workout you have been looking for. Workouts vary weekly and modifications will be provided. The workouts are designed by Rutgers Fitness professional staff. RU FIT STRENGTH is an intense equipment-based circuit training workout that uses kettlebells, TRX®, BOSU®, and more to challenge your muscle strength and endurance.

RU FIT TRX

Rutgers Fast Intense Training is the challenging workout you have been looking for. Workouts vary weekly and modifications will be provided. The workouts are designed by Rutgers Fitness professional staff. RU FIT TRX® is a full body strength workout that utilizes a person’s own body weight for resistance and core for stability.

BARRE SCULPT

A fun way to sculpt your whole body through dance based moves and upbeat music! This class also incorporates classic Pilates and Ballet technique to strengthen the entire body.

BODYFLOW®

BODYFLOW® is a motivating blend of Yoga with Tai Chi and Pilates. Controlled breathing, concentration and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses set to an an inspired soundtrack create a holistic workout that brings your body into a state of harmony and balance. Ideal for anyone and everyone, you’ll love the variety you get with BODYFLOW®

PIYO

Combine your favorite body-weight exercises with the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates and the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. A true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean, and incredibly defined.

WILLPOWER & GRACE®

An inspiring, high-energy barefoot workout that combines cardiovascular and total-body conditioning with positive philosophy. This workout will challenge you from head to toe and leave you feeling empowered and uplifted.

PILATES

This intensive muscle conditioning workout provides total body sculpting, muscle elongation, improved flexibility and core stability. Pilates focuses on alignment, movement quality and muscle engagement. You will develop a strong, lean body with regular practice!

ADVANCED YOGA

A challenging practice designed for intermediate/advanced yoga students with experience in various yoga asanas. We strongly recommend that you are able to perform urdva danurasana as well as handstands at the wall.

CORE YOGA

A yoga class that focuses on strengthening the core muscles with an emphasis on the abdominals to help support the back. Blocks are used for several poses to create awareness of using muscular energy into the body. Benefits of this class include improved balance, stability and strength with freedom.

HATHA YOGA

Achieve mind/body balance using breath, movement and mindfulness. Energizing asanas (physical postures) are sequenced with a strong focus on alignment to build muscle strength, endurance, and flexibility. Class will end with savasana, a personal time for deep relaxation.

HATHA YOGA WITH RESTORATIVE

Enjoy the benefits of Hatha Yoga asana coupled with satisfying restorative poses to end class. With the support of props, poses are achieved without muscular strength, facilitating release and relaxation that will calm the nervous system and melt away tension from the body, mind and spirit.

VINYASA YOGA

Enjoy a creative form of yoga in which each movement is synchronized with a breath. Flowing from pose to pose creates warmth and allows the body to move deeper into postures. Students will learn the sun salutation in addition to balance and inversion poses.

YOGA SALUTATIONS

A 35-minute active asana practice that quickly flows from one pose to another leaving you feeling energized for your day.

YOGA WITH REIKI

Enjoy a yoga-flow style class and experience the power of Prana or “Universal LIfe Force Energy.” During final relaxation, you will have the option to receice a few minutes of individual Reiki, a form of energy healing that is deeply relaxing and promotes the healing of the mind, body and spirit.

GUIDED MEDITATION

Find inner peace and focus as you are lead step-by-step through meditation. Learn techniques useful for calming the mind and refreshing the spirit. No previous experience necessary.

MINDFULNESS MEDITATION WORKSHOP

Mindfulness is the art of being a compassionate observer of our own experience. Mindfulness meditation helps us reduce stress & be calmer. All are welcome, whether you are a beginner or have previous experience. Workshops are free. No registration, special clothes or equipment required.
